The ASPIN Behavioral Health Network has been serving veterans in rural Indiana for more than two decades, providing critical behavioral health support to those who have served our country and their families. Each year, the network serves approximately 1,500 veterans and over 4,000 veteran family members. ASPIN clinicians receive specialized training in military culture, enabling them to better understand and respond to the unique experiences and daily realities of veterans and military families.
Over the years, the ASPIN network has:
-
Developed specialized training programs to equip civilian clinicians with a deep understanding of military culture and the unique behavioral health needs of service members and veterans.
-
Hired veterans, military family members, and peers to provide culturally responsive care and to strengthen the connection between providers and those they serve.
-
Actively participated in the Indiana Governor’s Veterans, Service Members, and Families Coalition and engaged in SAMHSA technical assistance meetings to stay at the forefront of best practices in veteran care.
-
Sought and secured grant funding to expand access to behavioral health services for veterans and their families, including resources to reduce barriers to care.
The ASPIN network’s providers maintain a statewide footprint, with service locations in more than 60 counties across Indiana, ensuring that rural and underserved veteran populations have access to culturally informed behavioral health support close to home.
